Fort

Day 89 (3.30.10) - One of Joey's favorite things to do with his dad is build forts. Sometimes their forts can be elaborate but sometimes it's just a blanket stacked up on a couple of pillows on the couch like this. Either way Joey loves it. He has a great imagination .... sometimes he brings cars in there for races, sometimes he makes me come in there (you can only imagine me trying to squeeze in there) and other times he his hiding from bears.

Ruby's Pants

Day 88 (3.29.10) - Totally a random picture but I had to post it because it makes me laugh. I picked the kids up from daycare today and Joey was wearing Ruby's pants (as shorts)! We bring the kids to daycare in their jammies and pack their clothes to get dressed there. Well, it wasn't till much later after we got home that I realized they were her pants. Granted, they are boys pants (since they were Joey's when he was her age) but he is so skinny he has the waist of a 6-12 month old! I kept telling him that they were her pants and he kept getting mad at me saying they were his and refusing to take them off.

Sea Life Aquarium

Day 87 (3.28.10) - Out of all the places here in Carlsbad, Legoland and the Sea Life Aqurium is going to be one of the places I miss the most! Since they opened a couple years ago, we've been here at least a couple times each month. Joey loves it and Ruby does too....even more so than the zoo or other places with animals probably because you can see everything up close. We actually had a Legoland double header today. We went to the aquarium in the morning then after nap we met some friends at Legoland. It's great that it is so close!

Saturday Morning

Day 86 (3.27.10) - Here's a sweet moment from just another Saturday morning. Nick has gone to the desert for the weekend for one last riding trip before we move so the kids and I are on their own. Sometimes Joey calls Ruby "mine sissy" meaning that she is his. Not such a great thing when he is taking every toy she plays with away from her but he loves to hug her kiss her and let her sit on his lap. This is a very rare moment cause you know Ruby hardly ever stays still.

Star of India

Day 85 (3.26.10) - It was an interesting day. I quit my job (more to come on that soon - we're moving to NJ!) and took a walk to the County Administration Building to get a few copies of Ruby's birth certificate (just to have since we're moving). It was an absoloutely gorgeous day. On the way back I walked past the harbor and stopped to look at the ships. Here is the Star of India - the worlds oldest active ship. I am really, really going to miss San Diego for so many reasons.

Self Feeding

Day 84 (3.25.10) - Ruby is a great eater and even though she has eaten every single thing I have given her (ever!), what is really annoying is that she doesn't like to be fed. So when I feed she eats stuff like yougurt, it can be a real mess.

Look Who's Walking (Almost!)

Day 83 (3.24.10) - Baby got some new shoes this past weekend and all of a sudden she thinks she can walk. She's up to taking about five steps at a time and even though she looks like a little drunk wobbly girl, and each walking spurt ends with a dive, she still goes for it. This makes me very scared.

Another Day Another Shake

Day 82 (3.23.10) - We have to do something about this oreo shake addiction. Joey is in on it too now. He gets really excited and doesn't want to take his lips off the straw until it is all done.

Waiting for the Train

Day 81 (3.22.10) - Joey and I spent the day at the Wild Animal Park with some good former San Diegan friends who were visiting from out of town. Here are the kids waiting for the train (it was actually a 30 minute tram ride which held the kids attentions for all of about 2 seconds before they all got bored). From left to right we have AvaGrace and Sam (Sue and Ben's kids visiting from North Carolina), Tyler (Maria and Gerald's son visiting from Utah) and Joey.

Baby Stew

Day 80 (3.21.10) - When Joey was this age I had this idea to put him in my huge stockpot with a chefs hat on and take some pictures. Nick thought I was nuts (I basically taped some black felt on the wall and the floor) opened up the windows for some natural light and snapped a couple of pics. They came out adorable. Fast forward two years later and we have a lot more stuff (lights, background, etc, I tossed in whatever fresh veggies I had in my fridge and some pasta) and this time we tried it out with Ruby. The only problem is that Ruby would NOT smile. No matter how goofy I acted,I couldn't get her to crack a smile. She was actually very concerned about why she was in a pot with no clothes on, and she hates hats! I actually think I may try this again if we get a chance...I was attempting to get some photos for my mom's kitchen and I'm not convinced these are good enough. Still though - she is adorable!!!
