Star of India

Day 85 (3.26.10) - It was an interesting day. I quit my job (more to come on that soon - we're moving to NJ!) and took a walk to the County Administration Building to get a few copies of Ruby's birth certificate (just to have since we're moving). It was an absoloutely gorgeous day. On the way back I walked past the harbor and stopped to look at the ships. Here is the Star of India - the worlds oldest active ship. I am really, really going to miss San Diego for so many reasons.

Self Feeding

Day 84 (3.25.10) - Ruby is a great eater and even though she has eaten every single thing I have given her (ever!), what is really annoying is that she doesn't like to be fed. So when I feed she eats stuff like yougurt, it can be a real mess.

Look Who's Walking (Almost!)

Day 83 (3.24.10) - Baby got some new shoes this past weekend and all of a sudden she thinks she can walk. She's up to taking about five steps at a time and even though she looks like a little drunk wobbly girl, and each walking spurt ends with a dive, she still goes for it. This makes me very scared.

Another Day Another Shake

Day 82 (3.23.10) - We have to do something about this oreo shake addiction. Joey is in on it too now. He gets really excited and doesn't want to take his lips off the straw until it is all done.

Waiting for the Train

Day 81 (3.22.10) - Joey and I spent the day at the Wild Animal Park with some good former San Diegan friends who were visiting from out of town. Here are the kids waiting for the train (it was actually a 30 minute tram ride which held the kids attentions for all of about 2 seconds before they all got bored). From left to right we have AvaGrace and Sam (Sue and Ben's kids visiting from North Carolina), Tyler (Maria and Gerald's son visiting from Utah) and Joey.

Baby Stew

Day 80 (3.21.10) - When Joey was this age I had this idea to put him in my huge stockpot with a chefs hat on and take some pictures. Nick thought I was nuts (I basically taped some black felt on the wall and the floor) opened up the windows for some natural light and snapped a couple of pics. They came out adorable. Fast forward two years later and we have a lot more stuff (lights, background, etc, I tossed in whatever fresh veggies I had in my fridge and some pasta) and this time we tried it out with Ruby. The only problem is that Ruby would NOT smile. No matter how goofy I acted,I couldn't get her to crack a smile. She was actually very concerned about why she was in a pot with no clothes on, and she hates hats! I actually think I may try this again if we get a chance...I was attempting to get some photos for my mom's kitchen and I'm not convinced these are good enough. Still though - she is adorable!!!

Here She Goes Again...

Day 79 (3.20.10) - ...getting into everything. We had another fun day. We went to our friend Lauren's house for an impromptu party this evening. We stayed fairly late for the kids (till 9) and they were REALLY well behaved. Well, Ruby was busy getting into everything but considering it was late for them (Ruby is usually in bed by 7 and Joey by 8:30ish), nobody melted down. Here is Ruby inside Lauren's coffee table. I called her name and she looked up at me with this look....busted!

Chocolate Molten Lava Cake

Day 78 (3.19.10) - We had a super fun kid-free night. Nick and I got a sitter, went to dinner at a fantastic steakhouse (this was the best meal I've had in a long time!) then met a bunch of friends (including some out of town friends we've missed) at a wine bar. 5 whole hours of kid free fun. Since we don't live near any family, we rarely get out. Here is a picture of my dessert from dinner. A delicious chocolate molten lava cake (not pictured is the French Vanilla Bean ice cream that accompanied the lava cake). I was so stuffed from dinner I could hardly move.

Super Joey

Day 77 (3.18.10) - Not much I could say about this picture - he fights crime in his underwear. It's a rough job for a superhero.

St. Patty's Day

Day 76 (3.17.10) - Today when I picked up Joey from daycare he was excited to show me this hat. I asked him if he made it and he told me no that Ms. Nancy (his teacher) made it, lol. He actually told me later that he DID decorate it but she cut it out and stapled them together. I had to bribe him to get him to put it on and take a picture.

Sibling Love

Day 75 (3.16.10) - I just love how close Joey and Ruby are. I wish Ruby didn't blink in this picture because I have a million pictures of each of them individually but only a handful of them together. It is really hard to get a picture of them together. I still think this is cute though.

Climbing Gear

Day 74 (3.15.10) - I went climbing today for the first time in a very long time. I had to dig up my climbing gear for a day at the gym. The first pair of shoes I tried on did not fit. I couldn't even get them on my feet. Every time I have a baby my feet seem to grow 1/2 a size. Luckily I found another pair that fit and my harness fit too! Phew. I'm totally out of shape but I had a fantastic time and I actually still have it in me. I think I have the climbing bug again. I can't wait to go and definitely want to start going regularly again!

Swinging

Day 73 (3.14.10) - We spent like 3 hours at the park today. The weather has just been absoloutely gorgeous and we got to spend some time with some friends we haven't seen in a long time. Joey loves to push Ruby on the swing. He was pushing her a little hard and she was kind of falling over. Poor Ruby, she always has the funniest faces in my recent pictures!

Night, Night

Day 72 (3.13.10) - I absoloutely love and adore my children but I have to say one of the best parts of my evenings is putting them to bed. It's pretty exhausting keeping up with them and at the end of the night we're all pretty tired. Nick's been out of town for the last couple days so I've been on my own. Luckily the kids have been pretty good but I definitely look forward to bedtime! As you can see Joey also loves his bed. He has a couple of friends that he likes to sleep with - baby Tad and Padington Bear. Padington was actually Nick's bear growing up. I tossed him in the wash last week and he was good as new. So sweet to watch him play with his dad's bear.

Scooting

Day 71 (3.12.10) - I'm loving this weather and the fact that it stays light out longer. We got home from work/daycare and it was nice enough to play outside for a while before dinner. My mom got Joey this scooter last summer and he still loves it.

Stuck

Day 70 (3.11.10) - Ruby is always getting into something. Today I heard her screaming and found her under the table stuck between these two dining chairs.

Oreo Shakes

Day 69 (3.10.10) - The chicken is pretty good but the Oreo Milkshakes are REALLY good. We live really close to Chick-fil-A and I can't stay away from these milkshakes. Nick is equally addicted and won't share with me any more so I had to get 2 today. It's ok though cause Joey polished off half of it!

Our of Order

Day 68 (3.9.10) - I put Joey on the potty to pee and left him for a second to get his crying sister. When I came back this is what I saw. Uh son, you are supposed to put your pants back on first before you wash your hands.

Tatoo

Day 67 (3.8.10) - Joey's been to a couple of birthday parties lately and in the loot bag there have been tatoos. Every time one is about to fade away, he'll make me put another one on. He loves his tatoos, lol. Here is his latest. Look how proud he is.

Flying Ruby

Day 66 (3.7.10) - Sometimes I think Ruby is getting huge...then I see her with her daddy and she seems tiny. This little girl is a thrill seeker like her mama. She loves to be tossed around...the higher the better.

Day 65 (3.6.10) - I obviously didn't take this picture - some stranger did. : ) But, I had to post it since family pictures are VERY rare. I think we only may hvae like 5 or so, ever! We spent the weekend in Palm Springs and took the Palm Springs Aerial tram up to the top of the mountain to play in the snow. I wish I had some fun pics of the kids in the snow but I wasn't feeling good so I hardly took any pictures the whole day. Oh well! We all look cold and I'm not sure what Ruby thinks about all of this, lol.

Stressed (Part II)

Day 64 (3.5.10) I think I've already posted a picture of Ruby before with this look. But what can I say I see it a lot. The girl needs to learn to relax. If you sit her down in her highchair BEFORE you give her food, this is what she looks like. She is either super happy or very mad. There is no in between. Look at all those teeth too. She just got #8!

Big Bites

Day 63 (3.4.10) - Look at the size of that bite! What can I say, the boy can eat. I am fortunate that both my kids are really great eaters and eat pretty much everything. One day Nick tucked a napkin in Joey's shirt when he was eating something messy and now almost every time we eat Joey NEEDS a napkin tucked in his shirt. Funny kid.

Tough Love

Day 62 (3.3.10) - Joey went to give Ruby a kiss today and what did she do? She bit him right on the cheek. Poor Joey. He was shocked and wasn't sure why she did that. I'm not sure if you can see it but he has 2 little red marks on his cheeks. Ruby may look really sweet but don't get too close!

Tea Party

Day 61 (3.2.10) - One of my favorite things about Joey is he has such a fun imagination. Tonight after watching an episode of Ni Hao Kai Lan where they had a tea party, Joey decided to have a tea party of his own. Ha! He dragged this blanket and put it down on the ground, collected some friends, ordered me to sit on the ground with him and poured and served "tea" and "cookies." Since he doesn't have any dolls or stuffed animals besides Baby Tad, notice the other attendees at the party are Mac and his Lightning McQueen computer. I think my boy needs a couple dolls and a real tea set. ; )

Cars

Day 60 (3.1.10) - Happy March! It's been MONTHS since Joey has first seen the movie Cars and he is STILL obsessed with everything Cars. The good thing is that he doesn't make us watch the movie every single day (even though we love that movie we've seen it about 100 times too many), but he still loves to carry his one of his cars around all the time. Here are some of his favorites.

Peek-a-boo

Day 59 (2.28.10) - We had a busy Sunday today and did lots of fun stuff but for some reason, I didn't take many pics....and the ones I took weren't so great. So, here is a picture of Ruby looking adorable. She was playing peek-a-boo with me, putting her blanket up and down to surprise me and she was just cracking herself up. Her face is changing every day and she is looking older to me.

Joey & Mason

Day 58 (2.27.10) This is Mason - one of Joey's best friends. Mason turned 3 today and we spent the day at Mason's birthday party. This evening Mason's parents went out to dinner with some out of town guests so he came over to our house to play. We had a little photoshoot (I put together some nice pictures of him as a gift for his mom) and we got a couple of fun ones of the boys together. They were being VERY silly here. Also notice the chocolate on Joey's chin, how else can we get a 2.5 year old and a 3 year old to sit still? I just love this picture - it shows off their FUN and silly personalities!

Big Boy

Day 57 (2.26.10) - Another crappy (quality) picture but exciting news around here. Look who is all done with diapers!

Little Miss Trouble Part 2

Day 56 (2.25.10) - Sorry for the crappy quality picture but as usual life is a little crazy around here. As I mentioned in yesterday's post Ruby is just all over the place and into everything. The girl drives me CRAZY!!! I swear I did not pose her in here! I opened up the dishwasher to unload it - walked away for a second and came back to find her inside the dishwasher, eating silverware!
